The conference will be held from 1 to 2 September 2010 in Auckland. The theme of the conference is “Risk Management in Action”, with the main focus being on hearing from our peers - risk management practitioners from a wide range of organisations and disciplines. We are particularly keen to hear from people who are involved in implementing the new international standard which New Zealand has recently adopted - AS/NZS ISO 31000.
The format of the two day conference will include keynote speakers and workshops, covering (among others) the following:
Key seminar topics: Risk management’s contribution to organisational strategy, Learning from disasters, Managing risk to legal compliance, The international risk management standard ISO31000 explained, and Managing risk to reputation.
Interactive workshops: Using ISO31000 in practice, Business continuity management, Communicating about risk, Case studies in applied risk management, Developing risk management context, and Monitoring and review in the risk management process.
Plus: Academic and research papers embodying new thinking in risk management and its applications.

Additional separately bookable half day workshop
Our opening keynote speaker Dr David Hillson will present a separately bookable half-day workshop entitled “Risk Management Awareness” on Tuesday 31 August (the day before the conference). The workshop is intended for managers who do not specialise in risk management and will provide an understanding of the purpose and value of risk management within the business, as well as introducing the tools to implement effective risk management within their area of responsibility. The workshop does not require prior knowledge or experience of risk management.
